Experts in a wide range of health issues, including nutrition, diabetes, lifestyle, dental health, hearing and tinnitus, are coming to the Isle of Man next week to give free advice at a two-day event.
The event has been organised by Onchan-based Isle of Man Hearing Solutions and will give people the opportunity to speak to medical experts from London and Edinburgh.
The ‘Health, Wellbeing, Hearing and Tinnitus’ event takes place on Thursday and Friday next week at the Sefton Hotel, Harris Promenade, Douglas. It will feature special presentations each day by the visiting experts.
Just 100 free spaces are available, and bookings must be made in advance through Isle of Man Hearing Solutions.
The speakers include tinnitus expert Trevor Bridge, lifestyle analyst Kate Stobart, Nikki Partington, the dietician from Noble’s Hospital, Nick Maybin from 1Dental Clinic and Neil Pottinger from Audibel, which has recently agreed to supply their specialist range of products to Isle of Man Hearing Solutions as the first company in Britain outside Harley Street and Edinburgh.
Guy Wolstencroft of Isle of Man Hearing Solutions, who will host the event, said the programme was aimed at the over 55s and he was keen that there was free admission for the public to meet the experts.
‘We want visitors to feel that they can come along and meet specialists in a relaxed and informal atmosphere where they can ask the sort of questions about lifestyle, diet, nutrition and general wellbeing which affect everyone, but which we are often reluctant to ask,’ he said.
‘The range of topics is really expansive. We will be looking at blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, body analytics and there will be a wide range of topics and demonstrations to do with hearing.
“Basically, visitors can ask questions about anything and everything.’
Events over the two days will take place in the Sefton Hotel’s Lecture Room and the Harris Suite. On Thursday, November 12, there will be 15-minute presentations at noon and 3pm, and on Friday 10am to 4pm at 11am and 2pm.
