Another pivotal weekend in the race for glory could be on the cards for several sides in JCK Division Two on Saturday afternoon.
The big games continue to come thick and fast as two of the top four teams in the division go head-to-head at Victoria Road where fourth-placed Braddan host second-placed Gymns.
A single point separates the sides in the table as they continue their quests for the end-of-season Gold Cup as well as potential promotion. Braddan go into the game on the back of a hard-fought draw away at Douglas Royal last time out, while Gymns eased to a 6-1 win against Governor’s Athletic.
Form would suggest Gymns are slight favourites but home advantage could play a key role this weekend while Gymns are also missing the influential Barry Hardinge.
Another close contest should be in store at Springfield Road where third place Pulrose United entertain Douglas Royal in what is sure to be a keenly-contested affair. Pully lie six points ahead in the standings at the moment but Royal impressed against Braddan at the weekend so this one could go either way.
Long-time league leaders Douglas Athletic will be expected to make it 10 wins out of 10 when they travel to out-of-sorts Michael United who have lost their last three games on the bounce.
Elsewhere in Division Two, Foxdale make the short journey south to take on Castletown, Douglas & District host Onchan and Governor’s Athletic welcome Colby to Bemahague.
