COLLECT and recycle your stamps is the message going out across the island again this Christmas with schools and churches volunteering to act as collecting centres for used stamps.
The stamps can then be used to raise money for charity.
When collecting stamps, people are asked to tear the stamp from the envelope and then trim to a 5mm margin before depositing the stamps at a collection point.
Last year, the sale of stamps and small collectables (such as postcards, coins etc.) raised thousands for the work of the Leprosy Mission. Such a little effort can collectively make such a big difference to the lives of people.
Schools with collections for stamps include: Ashley Hill, Jurby, St Ninian’s Lower and Upper Schools, Ramsey Grammar, Peel Clothworkers, Castle Rushen, St John’s, Rushen, Cronk y Berry, Kirk Michael and Ballacottier.
Churches with collection points are: St Ninian’s, Laxey and Lonan (leave with Jenny at Laxey post office) St Mary’s on the Harbour in Castletown; Dalby, Foxdale, St John’s, Patrick and St German’s Cathedral.
