Manx Utilities hope to fix the leak from a chamber in Peel’s sewage outfall pipe early next week with low tides expected.
A spokesman for Manx Utilities said: ‘The hope is that we can conduct an onshore fix to the leak at the very low spring tides due early next week when the area is exposed.
‘We are keeping Peel Town Commissioners informed of our progress. Water quality tests this week are indicating a ‘good’ water quality is being maintained in the area.
‘We continue with our reduced sewage pumping regime (only pumping from 8pm to 8am) which is being closely monitored.
‘Members of the team will also be attending a Peel Town Commissioners Board meeting (at their request) on October 20 to discuss the future Regional Sewerage Treatment Strategy for Peel in addition to the issue involving the leak.
‘A further update will be issued on Tuesday or Wednesday as we progress the outfall fix in Peel.’
