There are plans to register Lorne House in Castletown and the railway station and goods shed in Port St Mary.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture has advertised the proposals and asked that any comments be received by the secretary of the planning committee by September 25 and 26 respectively.
The prime objective of registration is to protect a building from being demolished and unsympathetic alteration.
If a building is registered, the owner must get consent to do alterations and failure to get permission is a criminal offence and may lead to prosecution and the need to reinstate it to its former condition.
The building must be maintained to a state of good repair. Grants are available.
