Youngsters can beat the boredom with a little extra help from the Family Library.

As well as the thousands of books available for users, the library has a wide variety of board games that children can use when they visit.

Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘Most people already know all about the DVDs and CDs that we have available, in addition to our huge supply of books aimed at young people, but more and more of our visitors are also taking advantage of the various games we have available to use in the library.

‘It means you don’t have to make your library visit a take-away experience, you can stop for a while and have a play on one of the games with your friends.’

Meanwhile, there is still time to register for the Family Library’s summer reading scheme, which this year has a Wonderland theme. A summer of events is being organised and there is a target of reading six books during the summer holidays.

To find out more about the reading scheme and the many regular workshops and craft sessions that are held, check out the Family Library page on Facebook or visit www.familylibrary.im or call the library on 640650.

The library is next to the children’s playground in Westmoreland Road, Douglas.
