ANOTHER Isle of Man charity is being remembered by Bee Gee Robin Gibb’s family as they prepare for his funeral today (Friday, June 8).
They have asked for donations in lieu of flowers to be given to Wish Upon A Dream, which grants wishes to children with life limiting conditions.
The news comes after the Gibbs asked for donations for another Isle of Man charity, Rebecca House.
Wish Upon A Dream’s Lesley Turnbull does not yet know what effect the Gibbs’ kind gesture will have on donations but she is grateful that the family has thought of the charity.
‘I’m absolutely delighted that there was some recognition for the work Wish Upon A Dream does for children in the Isle of Man,’ she said.
Lesley said she believed Wish Upon A Dream had been chosen as a result of coverage of the charity’s work in the media.
‘It was, I think, the fact that when he [Robin Gibb] moved to the island he looked at charities in the Isle of Man and I’m told he’d followed with interest the work of Wish Upon A Dream in the local paper,’ she said. ‘I think he just liked the fact that there was a charity doing that for Isle of Man children.’

The hugely successful Manx-born music star, who racked up decades of iconic hits, died on May 20 at the age of 62 after a long battle with ill health which saw him being treated for cancer as well as pneumonia.
His son RJ has since said that his death was due to kidney failure.
Robin Gibb’s funeral will be held in the UK today (Friday) and will be a private service for close family and friends.
A memorial service for the late Bee Gee will take place later this year – full details will be announced in due course although there has been speculation that it will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
