Seven schools and nurseries have received awards at the Isle of Man College of Further and Higher Education in recognition of the high quality of their provision.
Victoria House Nursery completed the full two-year Manx Quality Award, which identifies it as operating at the highest level in the island, working with children and the wider community.
The Ark Community Nursery and Butterflies Day Nursery achieved the full Manx Quality Award last year and have now completed their Post Award Verification.
The two nurseries are the first institutions to have their Manx Quality Award reviewed and both the verifiers and the awarding panel recognised the maintenance of high quality standards over the past 12 months.
Hopes and Dreams Buchan Nursery, Hopes and Dreams Parklands Nursery and Cronk y Berry School reception received the introductory Manx Step into Quality Award and Scoill Vallajeelt reception was awarded the Post Award Verification for Manx Step into Quality Award for continued good practice over the past 12 months.
The 2015 Manx Step into Quality Award group consists of Ballasalla Primary School reception and Key Stage One (infants), Henry Bloom Noble Primary School reception, Marown Primary School reception and Year One (aged five and six), Peel Clothworkers’ Primary School reception and Sandcastles Nursery at Cronk y Berry. All are working through the six ‘steps’ to celebrate their quality practice and make further developments until January 2016.
Geoff Moorcroft, director of education said: ‘The Manx Quality Award continues to play a significant role in improving and maintaining provision for children in the early years.
‘It supports settings in improving the quality of all aspects of their provision and helps them create high-quality, meaningful learning experiences for children.’
