John McGuinness claimed his 22nd TT win with victory in the SES-sponsored TT Zero on Wednesday morning.
The one-lap electric bike race had a small but quality line-up also including the likes of Bruce Anstey, Lee Johnston and Guy Martin.
Flying Kiwi Anstey was quickest to Glen Helen as he opened up a slender 0.852-second lead ahead of Mugen Shinden team-mate McGuinness, with Johnston lying third ahead of Martin.
However, the Morecambe Missile hit back on the way to Ballaugh and leapfrogged into a 2.259s advantage, with Anstey holding a 33.488s gap on Johnston.
McGuinness was quickest through the Sulby speedtrap at 163.3mph and duly increased his lead to a shade under five seconds by the time the leaders reached Ramsey, only for Anstey to hit back and close the gap back down to 2.405s at the Bungalow.
Despite that scare, McGuinness soon upped his advantage once again - albeit only slightly - to 2.9s and cruised back to the Grandstand to claim his 22nd TT victory some 4.402 seconds ahead of Anstey.
Johnston saw off the challenge of Martin to claim third place - his second podium in as many days following his third place in Tuesday’s Superstock - while Robert Wilson was fifth and Michael Sweeney sixth.
McGuinness’s lap speed of 119.279mph broke the previous record of 117.366mph which he set last year - indeed the Morecambe Missile’s speed on the electric bike was even quicker than his 250cc record of 118.29mph set in 1999.
