A fundraising drive in Port Erin raised enough money to buy two packages of essential aid for victims of the earthquakes in Nepal.
Members of the Rotary Club of Rushen and Western Mann were raising money for the Shelterbox charity.
Shelterbox delivers packages containing a disaster relief tent for a family, thermal blankets and groundsheets, water storage and purification equipment, solar lamps, cooking utensils, a basic tool kit and mosquito nets to disaster-hit regions around the world. Each box costs £600.
Rotary’s David Maddrell said: ‘We’re very grateful for the response we had and we’re delighted to raise enough to fund two shelterboxes.’
They are also working with local schools and hope to contribute six boxes for Nepal.
