RAMSEY resident Cal Crutchlow continued his fine season with an impressive fifth-place finish in the Catalunya Grand Prix in Barcelona on Sunday afternoon.
Having impressed in practice, the Tech 3 Yamaha racer qualified on the front row in third place behind Casey Stoner and Jorge Lorenzo.
However, a superb start by Dani Pedrosa meant the Spaniard shot up to first while Crutchlow was bumped down to fourth place by the first corner.
A race-long battle then ensued between Crutchlow and defending world champion Stoner, with the duo trading places a couple of times.
Despite applying pressure to the Australian in the closing few laps of the 25-lapper, Crutchlow was unable to find a way past and had to settle for fifth.
The result leaves Cal fifth in the overall standings in what has been a superb season for the 26-year-old as he aims to become the first Briton to claim a championship podium place at the MotoGP in 12 years.
