This year’s Douglas Fun Day will run to a tried and tested formula, most likely involving children’s rides, a bouncy castle and food kiosks.
Other likely attractions for the event, held in Noble’s Park could include a car boot sale, charity stalls and family races.
The day is set to run from 1pm to 4pm on August 1 and participants from previous events are to be invited to take part. However, there will be no temporary stage erected for local bands to perform this year.
Douglas Council has been told the cost of erecting a stage is prohibitively expensive particularly as local bands did not form a popular element of the day, often performing to no standing crowds.
Other ideas mooted for the day included a children’s disco, a break dancing competition and ferret racing.
The council has also approved a proposal by PSS Services Ltd to hold a themed Easter egg hunt in Summerhill Glen between April 3 and 7.
