Seeley sets early pace at North West 200

ALASTAIR Seeley set the early pace in the opening practice for the North West 200 in mixed conditions on Tuesday.

The Tyco Suzuki rider topped the Superbike standings at 120.69mph from John McGuinness (119.25) and William Dunlop (118.43). Ian Hutchinson was sixth quickest at 117.564.

Seeley also led the Supersport at 113.24mph, with Guy Martin (112.87) and McGuinness (112.41).

Ryan Farquhar was fastest in the Superstock class at 117.55mph, from Seeley (117.34) and McGuinness (116.63).

Adrian Archibald topped the Supertwin class at 104.35 from Michael Rutter (104.03) and James Hillier (103.85), with Farquhar next at 103.84.

Conor Cummins was 11th quickest in the Superbikes at 116.856mph, with Dan Kneen 23rd (112.752), Onchan resident Ryan McCay 33rd (109.114) and Dave Madsen-Mygdal 43rd (102.868).

Kneen was a provisional 16th in the Superstock class at 112.320, with McCay 29th (108.334). The Supersport class saw Kneen 12th best (107.636), Mark Madsen-Mygdal 35th (100.068) and Billy Smith 37th (99.800). Supertwin: John Barton 19th (95.985), Dave Madsen-Mygdal (95.223), Smith 29th (92.372).

Yeovil’s Martin Jessop set a record straightline speed of 208mph.

Practice continues throughout Thursday with the first Superstock and lone Supertwin race in the evening. Saturday’s five-race action is from 11am.
