Peel striker Josh Kelly makes his eighth Isle of Man Newspapers’ Team of the Week appearance of the season in the latest line-up of the hypothetical XI.
The Peel striker has been in tremendous form for Steve Falconer’s title chasers this term and he grabbed his 20th and 21st goals of the league season on Saturday as Gymns were brushed aside 6-1 at Douglas Road.
Also impressing in the weekend’s six Canada Life Premier League were Kelly’s fellow attacking brethren Darren Hudgeon (DHSOB) and Stephen Glover (St John’s).
The pair partner the Isle of Man FA cap in the final third after both hit the goal trail in their sides’ respective wins on Saturday.
Hudgeon grabbed a brace as Old Boys beat bottom side Michael United 7-0 at Balleira Road.
The result moves Old Boys up into third in the top-flight standings, but leaves Michael with only four games to make up the six points they trail third-bottom Gymns.
Glover was on target against old club St Mary’s as St John’s picked up one of the results of the day triumphing 3-1 at the Bowl.
Also impressing in that match was Glover’s United team-mate Callum Taggart who was also on target in the Johnners’ eighth victory of the season.
Fellow western wonder Lee Gale (Peel) joins Taggart in midfield quartet that also includes Union Mills pair Ronan McDonnell and Chris Kelly.
Gale grabbed his 10th goal of the top-flight campaign as the Sunset City side kept their bid for silverware on track with a routine win over strugglers Gymns.
McDonnell and Kelly manned the Millers’ midfield engine room to good effect on Saturday as Joedy Scarffe’s side continued their recent upturn in form to move within a point of Gymns and safety.
The three-man defence is made up of St George’s stalwarts Sean Quaye and Julian Ringham plus Rushen’s Sam Taylor.
Quaye and Ringham were in typically determined form as Geordies kept a 10th clean sheet of the campaign as Ramsey were beaten 4-0 at Glencrutchery Road.
Taylor marked his recent elevation to the Croit Lowey first team with a man-of-the-match performance as the Spaniards beat Corinthians 4-3 to complete a league double over the Whites at Croit Lowey.
St John’s goalkeeper claims the TotW’s coveted number one jersey for a fourth time this term after a solid showing in the United’s win over St Mary’s.
Up-and-coming official Matty Shaw claims his first Referee of the Week accolade after impressing with the middle in St George’s match with Ramsey.
