Island companies are preparing to fly the flag tomorrow (Tuesday) at a major European gaming gathering.
Excellence in iGaming (EiG) takes place in Berlin from tomorow to Thursday, October 23 and promises to be the biggest yet.
Among the island firms showcasing the island and its fast growing eGaming sector is Equiom which says it will demonstrate its eGaming experience at the renowned congress and expo.
The leading international trust and corporate services provider will be represented by two of its eGaming specialists; Barry Smith and Adam Beighton.
And they plan to be in the thick of the action by being based on the Isle of Man Government stand.
Mr Smith, Equiom’s legal director, was instrumental in establishing Equiom’s e-Gaming business line and has over 12 years’ experience in e-Gaming law. Adam heads up Equiom’s e-Commerce team and brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge.
The experienced team will be advising on the most efficient ways to set up e-Gaming companies, including how to achieve affective structures and providing guidance with regards to complex licensing requirements.
In addition to this, the Isle of Man Government stand will be focusing on providing advice and support to new start-ups, including a lunch to educate on the benefits of a jurisdiction such as the Isle of Man and a ‘Start-up Surgery’ where entrepreneurs can gain quality advice from experienced professionals.
Barry Smith said: ‘Equiom is well equipped to provide quality advice and guidance in a very challenging and complex industry. We have a proven track record and we benefit from being situated in a well regulated and trusted jurisdiction. EiG provides us with an opportunity to showcase our expertise to those who are new to the industry and reaffirm our position as a leader in this industry.’
The exhibition, attended by iGaming professionals from all over the world, takes place over the three days at the Arena in Berlin and promises to be the biggest yet, with a 20 per cent increase in operator groups since last year.
Representatives from Appleby (Isle of Man) LLC and Appleby Trust (Isle of Man) Limited will also be attending.
More than250 operators will be exhibiting, including many well-known online gaming names.
Representing Appleby’s Isle of Man office will be Sandra Georgeson, client director in the fiduciary and administration department, and Claire Milne, partner in the corporate and commercial department.
Claire, who is also the Isle of Man team leader for the telecommunications and technology and intellectual property teams, is a respected figure in the gaming community and in August was appointed as a full general member of the International Masters of Gaming Law.
Claire was also chairman of the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission from 2007 to 2012.
Claire and Sandra will meet delegates at the Isle of Man Government stand at EiG, assisting other leading figures from the island’s egaming industry to promote the Isle of Man as a centre of excellence.
Claire said: ‘EiG is a major conference and exhibition for the gaming and gambling industry and a chance to explain to existing operators and related businesses, as well as start-up businesses, the benefits and attractions of the Isle of Man. It is an opportunity to explain more about the island’s offering, including its highly-respected licensing regime, player protection mechanisms and the professional services available to operators considering the Isle of Man as a place to do business.
‘There are important topics for discussion in the industry, and I expect the potential impact of emerging licensing regimes on the Isle of Man, as well as the island’s attitude towards crypto-currencies, will be raised.’
SMP Partners are another Isle of Man company going to Germany and there’s an article about their presence in the Isle of Man Examiner newspaper tomorrow (Tuesday).
Also in the paper is a piece about Manx Telecom being there.
