A public meeting will take place this evening (Monday) regarding Dandara’s plan to build 144 houses at Reayrt ny Cronk in Peel.
The meeting has been called by Captain of the Parish John Kennaugh and invitations have been sent to Chief Minister Alan Bell, Peel Commissioners, Peel MHK and Education Minister Tim Crookall, Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne, Health and Social Care Minister Howard Quayle, and Policy and Reform Minister Chris Robertshaw.
It will take place at Corrin Hall, in the grounds of St German’s Cathedral, starting at 7.30pm.
Subjects on the agenda for discussion include: the use and reliance of a sewage treatment plant operated by a private company; the use of the QEII High School fields to meet the open space requirement; inadequate road provision including town centre parking; and whether the plan represents a sustainable development for the west of the island, in accordance with the Strategic Plan.
The plan to build the 144 houses has been approved by the planning department but has been met with anger by many Peel residents and some Peel commissioners, who have lodged an appeal against the plan’s approval.
Dandara has said that the development will create 150 jobs.
The appeal hearing will take place on Thursday (September 25) over the planning decision to approve the houses.
The hearing will take place at 9.30am in the third floor meeting room at Government Offices in Douglas.
Whilst the public are welcome to attend the appeal hearing only those persons whom made representation during the Department’s consideration of the application, and have been accorded interested party status through that process, may participate in the appeal proceedings.
