Young performers gained an introduction to Youth Service project Soundcheck with a week of music-based activities.
Fifteen youngsters aged 11 to 15 attended the Soundcheck holiday venture scheme, held at the Youth Arts Centre in Kensington Road, Douglas. Youth officer Dave Hattersley said: ‘The scheme was a great success. Everyone looked at a variety of instruments, setting up a stage with sound and lights plus one young man developed his skills in DJing.
‘On the last night a brand new band who had only met on Monday called United We Fall performed on an outdoor stage at the Fun Barn at Onchan as part of a corporate event where Soundcheck were providing the music.
‘Other members of the project – Callum Quaggan and Annabelle Curphey – also performed on Friday night.’
Participants also have the chance to perform at the Deep South Music Festival this weekend in Port St Mary.
Dave said everyone who attended was now looking forward to being members of the project when it restarts in September.
